The Audio Publishers Association (APA) just announced the official opening of the “call for entries” for the 2014 Audies Competition.
From the APA website: “The Audies … is the premier awards program in the United States recognizing distinction in audiobooks and spoken word entertainment.”
Visit The Audies Competition online for a complete list of categories, rules, eligibility – and the entry procedure.
2014 Competition Entry Deadlines:
- August 30, 2013 — includes all titles issued from November 1, 2012 through July 31, 2013.
- October 18, 2013 — includes all titles issued from August 1, 2013 through October 31, 2013.
- December 14, 2013 — Deadline to submit Audiobook of the Year and Distinguished Achievement in Production entries.
NOTE: The APA has partnered with Audible.com to streamline the “submission” process. That means that if your title is available on Audible’s site, it will be easier for you to submit it – and easier for the judges to review it. Titles not available at Audible are still eligible to compete in the Audies competition – but “easier” is almost always “better.” Here’s the caveat from the APA:
Do you plan to submit your titles digitally? Please visit www.Audible.com to confirm your title is up before selecting “digital” as your submission format. A missing title interferes with the judges’ listening time (which is already tight).
Of course, if you’re a Big Happy Family publisher, you don’t have to worry about this, but you should still check.
